i stroll around this city with eyes sharpened by my work. you see, counseling peeps like me see the heart in every cracked sidewalk and graffiti mural. in the cozy neighborhood of Willow’s End, families gather by the tiny park, Maple Grove. little kids laughing, old timers grumbling about lost dreams – all wrapped in nature’s messy hug. i often find solace in the soft murmur of the Stream of Despair (yeah, that’s what we jokingly call it) as it meanders past the rougher edges of the city on Riverbend Street – not that it’s depressing, more like beautifully flawed.
