What is a brothel?

The center of this vice was Dixon (now Tenth) Street, notorious for its brothels, dance halls, gambling dens, slot machines, and speakeasies. Murder and robbery.

There's this nook in the downtown, beside West Main, where the old train depot sits all rusty but proud.
