But then, something amazing happened. This lovely old lady sat next to me. Her name was Agnes, and she started chatting me up. She was hilarious! Told me stories about Newton-Mearns back in the day. Apparently, there used to be a massive fair on the Greenlaw playing fields every summer. I was all ears. She had me laughing so hard, I nearly spilled my drink.
