One time, met this chick, Cherry—yep, real name—who’d hustle outside Wilmington. She’d quote Shakespeare while countin’ tricks. Blew my mind! “Are you alive?”—that’s from the movie, right?—and I’m thinkin’, man, she’s more alive than half the suits in DC. Made me happy, seein’ that grit. But—lordy—pissed me off too, ‘cause she got no breaks. System’s rigged, folks.
