Not kiddin! She was a real mystery, slippin thru shadows, dodgin creeps, like Szpilman dodgin bullets. “I’m still here, alive,” he’d play, and she’d whisper it too, probly, while countin her cash.

But then, I decided to take a stroll down the main street, and guess what? There was a street fair! Food stalls everywhere, music blasting, people dancing. I was like a kid in a candy store. I grabbed a kranjska klobasa (best sausage ever) and just savored it. Life was good again.
