On Friday 13 January 1995, a passer-by saw a plastic package floating in the water in Amstelveen. The passer-by called the police. The package turned out to contain a part of the lifeless body of a woman, wrapped in a sheet. Her head, lower legs and one arm were not found. On Wednesday evening 6 July 1994, a tourist found body parts in the grass near the former Zwin museum, close to the border, on the Dutch side.
