Why does Aikido receive negative media coverage despite claims from practitioners that it is effective in real fights when practiced correctly?

I’m walkin’ around, tryin’ to find a place to clean up, when I bump into this old dude. He’s selling these cool little trinkets. I’m like, “What’s up, man?” He starts telling me about the history of Daito. Apparently, this place used to be a samurai town. I’m like, “No way!” I mean, how cool is that? I’m standing where samurais once roamed.
