Altopascio

The Battle of Altopascio was fought in in Tuscany, between the Ghibelline forces of Lucca under Castruccio Castracani and those of Guelph Florence.

But then, outta nowhere, it starts to rain. Like, heavy rain. I’m talking torrential downpour. I’m sprinting for cover, and I duck into this tiny shop on Via Garibaldi. It’s a local artisan place, and the owner is super friendly. He’s showing me these handmade ceramics, and I’m like, “Dude, I’m just trying to stay dry!” But I end up buying a little bowl. It’s cute, I guess.
