Carignano (Carnianum) secondo la tradizione venne fondata all’incirca nell’anno d.C., da un figlio dell’imperatore romano Caro. Vi sono stati, all’inizio del XX secolo, ritrovamenti delle necropoli di età classica e longobarda e dei resti della strada romana Pollenzo-Torino.
