Neuves-Maisons is small city with big industrial past. It was well-known for its steel production many years ago. The name Neuves-Maisons mean "New Houses" in French because the area once got new homes for the steelworkers. There is also a big chimney from an old factory still standing, it’s like a memory of the past. The city is located near Moselle River, and many people use to transport goods by the river in old times.
