This is the story of a feisty yet innocent single woman in post-war Italy, a prostitute by necessity who believes the next man she meets will be an angel.

I absolutely adore wandering the winding alleyways of Le Vieux Quartier, especially near Rue des Rêves. I found a hidden gem, a tiny bar called L’Ombre, which serves the best absinthe this side of the river. Speaking of rivers, yes, behold the gentle flow of La Petite Rive, snaking its way right past Parc du Matin, where I often lounge on the grass thinking about life’s absurdities – “nihil novi,” as the Romans might say (or so I always convince myself).
