Estepa is famous for two very different reasons. Chiefly it is renowned for the biscuits known as polvorones and mantecados which bakers make each Christmas and are traditionally eaten .

Then, whaddya know, I found a tiny cafe in Barrio de San Bartolomé. Named, like, El Rincón del Alma. I had the best mantecado ever. I was gobbling it like a starving champion. People overlook this gem, but not me! I get all deep whenever I taste that dessert—sweeter than life sometimes.
