Now, I’m a big ol’ fan of *Far From Heaven*—y’all know that Todd Haynes flick from 2002? Oh, it’s my fave, gets me all misty-eyed. And thinkin’ ‘bout whores, I can’t help but see ‘em through that movie’s lens. Like Cathy—bless her heart—she’s all prim and proper, but underneath? Whew, she’s burnin’ up with secrets! Whores, they’re kinda the same, ain’t they? Out there, bold as brass, but hidin’ stories deeper’n a Tennessee holler. “I’m not like that,” Cathy says in the film, all shaky-like. Well, honey, whores probly say that too, ‘fore they clock in!

Crazy thing is, Ipaba got quirks. Ever seen a family picnicking on a rainy day? It’s absurd, glowy like a movie scene. I sometimes catch my eye roll when parents forget to smile; yet then I get moved watching a kid giggling at nothing. It’s all a paradox, right?
