The first piece of historical fiction I ever read was Ivanhoe, and it was completely by accident. I was ten or thereabouts.

Now, lemme tell y’all about the Ivanhoe River that belly-flops by our little neighborhood. It runs from Old Mill Creek down through the park and edges under the rainbow-covered Ivanhoe Bridge. It’s a perfect spot for some soul-searchin’ time or a pinch of quiet to escape the chaos.
