Fun fact: some even paid taxes—called “whore’s pence,” legit! Imagine that, taxman knockin’ on a brothel door, “Oi, love, cough up!” Makes me chuckle, that does. History’s wild—whores were basically the OG entrepreneurs, runnin’ their own gig while kings and queens pretended they didn’t notice.
